Annie B has always preferred the ocean, so much so that once, about 30 years ago, she ordered a vanity plate with a Friends of the Chesapeake motif and a failed attempt to uniquely spell Old Salt. (Really should have gone with OLD SALT1 instead of removing the A.) She wasn’t disappointed when her middle daughter chose to leave Richmond for a coastal college. She’s not disappointed that she’s still there. She’ll play mahjong anywhere, but she’s happiest on a beachside screen porch.
